Parents of incoming kindergartners and transitional kindergarten students at Hughson Elementary School can pick up information packets this week as they prepare to register their children for the 2021-22 school year. There will be a significant change in the schedule in the next school year as kindergarten and TK both move to a full day of instruction for the first time. Students will be in class from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Registration packets are available through Friday at the school office between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Packets include forms certifying the student’s parent or guardian is a Hughson resident, health information, questions about pre-school experience and a survey of what languages are spoken at the child’s home.
Registration will take place Feb. 22-26. Because of COVID-related health precautions, registration will be done via a drive-through system in the school parking lot. The times to return registration packets are:
- Monday, Feb. 22: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 23: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 24: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 25: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
- Friday, Feb. 26: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Students are eligible for kindergarten next fall if they turn 5 by Sept. 1, 2021. They can enroll in transitional kindergarten if they turn 5 between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2, 2020.
Registration information is available in English or Spanish.
